I miss live music

I’m watching my favourite band

Play past live shows

From the comfort of my couch

This soft fleece blanket

Couldn’t compare to the comfort

That warm, perspiring skin

Brushing against one another brings

I turn the volume up

As loud as I can bear

Then stand and close my eyes

Letting the rhythm of the music

Push my body gently from side to side

Each beat bringing my hands

Closer to touching the sky

  1. So relatable. I do this a lot when I want to tune out the trouble of the world around me.

  2. There’s a lot of pandemic poetry out there at the moment but this one stands out from the rest. In another life I thought I was a musician, so this felt close to home. Beautiful writing!
