There is a disconnect between my heart and my brain
Like a married couple who hate each other
And stopped keeping track of anniversaries years ago
But will never accept of the idea of divorce
Bickering from the moment I open my eyes
Never can they compromise on a single topic
Forced to live in the same home of flesh and bones
That continues to decay around them
As they sleep in separate rooms every night

As the metaphorical child of this heart/brain couple, which parent do you tend to side with?

It was my brain for the longest time but my heart has been much louder these past few years

Interesting post. I’m wondering: What do your heart and brain agree on? In considering that question for myself, they both want what’s best for me, but sometimes disagree on what’s best. Sometimes one compromises more than the other. The pendulum shifts back and forth, but they have learned to get along most of the time. I’m reminded of the saying: “Follow your heart, but take your brain with you.”

Hmmm. Talk about civil war. I can relate.
Thanks, Shllyn.
