I found myself looking for validation in you
Solely basing my self worth on your opinion
And you are in no way to blame for that
I craved the confidence I felt
While standing by your side
Or more like clinging to your shoulders
You were quite right to leave
You had the courage to step back
To look at the mess we were weaving
Untangle our roots
And we grew
It was not easy but we found ways
To anchor ourselves to the soil alone
I do not know who we would have blossomed into
Had we continued tending to our garden
But thank you for pushing us
To bask in the sunlight
And bathe in rain showers on our own

Written with such emotion! Wonderfully penned! I found myself in the lines as I read this piece. I went through a horrible break up with my ex-fiance’ closing in on 4 years now.
I got over him real quick, is that the relationship was a toxic one. I don’t miss him anymore, but after reading this… All those emotions and thoughts came rushing back to me. Very well done!
