We used to share mornings together

Filling our brains with coffee

And our mouths with eggs

Watching the sun peer through the shades

You stopped eating eggs

And I stopped eating eggs because you stopped eating eggs

Not on purpose

But because I never liked making them for myself anyway

I just liked to see you smile at me when I brought you breakfast

We still share many mornings together

And we don’t really eat breakfast anymore

But we still fill our brains with coffee

You still smile when I see you every morning

And we try to forget the sun is up for just a few more hours each day
