Tethered to the past

My mind wonders about the future

While often wandering backwards

Into old neural pathways

That store my most preeminent recollections

Daydreaming of tomorrow

On strolls down memory lane

Is like an alcoholic

Conceptualizing sobriety

While sitting on a dirty bar stool

It is hard to move forward

While tethered to the past

  2. Thoughtful imagery and the idea reminded of something William Faulkner said, to the effect, the past is never dead – it’s not even past. Will follow. Thanks for following mine.
