“Fake it ‘til you make it”
So I’ve been told
Though I’m not certain I will make it
Before I’m worn out and old
As if wearing a mask long enough
Will fuse it to my face
Or using smiles to dry my tears
Will change their bitter taste
It’s hard enough to fall asleep
Or wake up every morning
Fighting back the demons
That come knocking without warning
And I’m just suppose to pretend
They were never at my door
Good God, they’re fucking loud!
How the hell do I ignore
The screeching and the wailing
And their nails against the screen
So far faking it
Has never made them leave
How long do I hold them off
Before eventually I win
Or give up all together
And let the demons in
Maybe there was no war waging
In the head of whoever wrote that stupid line
Maybe they had a lot less to suppress
And an easier to control mind
Maybe I haven’t given it enough time
So for now I’ll just take it
Maybe I’ll perfect this facade
And eventually fake ‘til I make it

I hate that saying as well. Fake it till you make what? “Come as you are” ….now that’s a better saying. Nobody is perfect. Don’t believe that you have to perfect a facade. That’s way too much pressure, and you won’t be happy behind the mask. If you need help just ask. (Didn’t mean for that last sentence to rhyme, but it works and it’s the truth.)

Very well written. I did try that saying, but it didn´t work for me. Instead of faking it I had to work a lot on me ti´ll I made it ,whatever made means.
