I Don’t Want to be Completed

I don’t want to be completed

I solve my puzzles just fine

I’d rather be complimented

Like cheese pairs with wine

Don’t try to force your pieces

Into empty spaces of mine

Don’t step on my independence

But walk with me by my side

We’ll never be the picture

That you see on the box

Our pieces make mosaics

We’re my favorite mismatched socks

We still go together

Without being parallel

We sit on the same beach

As different broken shells

  1. This sums up what I would say to any friend who runs at me, arms outstretched, in hopes of being my “next big thing”.
