Band-aid Smile

She’s got a band-aid smile

Covering damages

From accidents

Others

Herself

Replaced each morning

Only at night

Does she roll up her grin

Pull back the bandages

And allow her wounds to breathe

She can’t keep from scratching

When they begin to heal

And itch

But doesn’t quite mind the sting

Of picking at the scabs
